There is absolutely no doubt where you need to be to wear Marchesa. These are gowns made for red carpets and no mistake. Pardon me if I am being presumptuous, but you and I, dear Grazia Daily reader, are unlikely ever to need a Marchesa dress. Even if you win the lottery or one of your relatives marries into the royal family, you can safely and confidently rest assured that this is one fashion fantasy you can safely leave where it is: remote. Unless you are planning to pick up an Oscar any time soon, you won’t be needing Marchesa. (So no surprises stylist Rachel Zoe was apparently going mad for the collection and Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively was there to have a look).
But, we also know you like to be well informed. So, for the record, this season had a strong oriental theme: the obi jackets and embroidered figure hugging dresses were my favourites followed by the billowing embroidered tulle gowns in palest nude, lilacs and mint. And herein lies the important message: regardless of whether you are schmoozing in the spotlight or hanging on the street, you are never going to be far from pea or pistachio green next summer.
