Hate to moan, but we waited for almost an hour in a freezing cold venue and then it started to snow… INSIDE. 'Calm down, dear: it's only soap flakes,' chirruped some helpful Michael Winner type from behind us as the front three rows stifled choking coughs. From out of the soapy flurries Galliano's latest girls emerged through a purple lazer tunnel in Turkish coin headdresses, knee-high gladiator sandals trimmed with pompoms and swirling silhouettes worthy of a dervish. These aren't clothes to go to work in (unless you fancy building a career as an Armenian minstrel, which come to think of it, in times like these, may not be such a bad idea). But they were devastatingly decorative. And the eveningwear was dreamily romantic and bound to show up on a red carpet west of the Caucasus somewhere soon.
WHAT WE LOVED
The pompom gladiator heels
The silver-grey fringed evening dress
The embroidered coats
The embroidered peasant blouses
The coin jewellery
