Charlize Theron and Eva Green provided the FROW pap-candy at the Dior A/W ‘09 show in Paris and if they were shopping for red-carpet winners, they will not have been disappointed. Designer John Galliano included some show-stoppers: dreamy chiffons with a roaring '20s vibe in a rainbow of luscious colours, an ultra-glamorous beaded kaftan in papal purple and a super-chic satin ribbon-effect cocktail dress that had 'best dressed' written all over it. The models entered the catwalk from behind ornate gold screens, with their hair pinned with hundreds of kirby grips, giving the illusion of neatly bobbed hair. As well as the '20s references, Galliano had taken inspiration from a mish-mash of Eastern cultures. Pagoda-shaped skirts and geisha girl make-up from Japan, ultra-decadent brocade Chairman Mao-style jackets from China and flowing dress/trouser combos from India. Eastern opulence ruled.
