This New York fashion week is all about live music. Donna Karan, G Star Raw and Diesel Gold all treated us to impromptu concerts. Pianist Eric Lewis gave a virtuoso performance at Donna Karan. Two pianists were flown in specially from the Amsterdam Conservatoire and mesmerised the audience at G Star. Diesel treated us all to a funky jazz four piece. And the live band dominated the stage at Phillip Lim's A/W '09 collection. Clearly they were not just there to provide the music, but were a big style inspiration too. The models all wore pudding bowl wigs cut just like the lead singer's and the collection was big on the band's vintage dandy style.
WHAT WE LOVED
The military-style frock coats.
The gold-buttoned double-breasted A-line coat.
The mini polka-dot one-shouldered chiffon dress.
The jewelled Mongolian lamb gilet.
The sharp-shouldered trouser suit in dusty-pink crêpe.
