The coat, and in particular the trench, were key components of the Versace A/W '09 show last night in Milan. Texture is all important here – metal and nappa were incorporated into the fabric, resulting in flashes of metallic that glimmered under the catwalk lights. As ever at Versace we feasted on an array of sumptuous-coloured body-hugging minidresses and liquid silk jersey dresses in kingfisher blue, fuchsia, turquoise, scarlet and tangerine, often with thigh-high splits. It was typically Versace. With Donatella herself appearing on the catwalk, it was a fitting finale to a Milan Fashion Week that has had far less sparkle than usual.
WHAT WE LOVED:
Jourdan Dunn striding out in an amazing blue/black coat.
The sassy orange minidress.
Skin-tight trousers, almost combat-style, worn with fitted jackets.
The charcoal coat with black metallic streaks.
Huge matte oyster-coloured sequins covering strapless dresses.
