Missoni layers up

27 February 2009

Girl about town and heiress to the fashion house's crown, Margherita Missoni worked the front row before the Missoni A/W 09 show last night, charming the fashion crowd like a pro. The collection was a masterclass in modern (and totally cool) layering. Short sleeveless cardis over slouchy overcoats, gorgeous open knit sweater dresses over knitted leggings, and each layer beautifully crafted so as to be ultra fine to ensure that bulk wasn't an issue. All the key Missoni hallmarks were there - from the traditional zig zag prints to the colourful palette - but all was interpreted in a young and fresh way that felt completely right for now.

The fablous knitted turbans, snoods and hair bands.

The blue slouchy tailored jacket layered with knits.

The delicate open-knit light-as-air sweater dreesses.

The mix of texture: mohair with cashmere and lurex with chunky knits.
