Grown-up glamour in Milan

The Prada show might have been hard-to-wear and even harder-to-walk-in but yesterday's other big three collections - Jil Sander, Etro, Bottega Veneta - were entirely ready-to-wear. They took the key cutting edge trends for Spring we've seen so far in New York and London and made them luxurious, glamorous and grown up. At Jil Sander fringing suddenly looked plausible with tiered silk fringed dresses undulating over second skin body suits. At Bottega Veneta the warm colour palette of burnt orange and yellows and gently curving womanly shapes gave a supremely elegant slant to the crushed fabrics that are fashion's current passion. And Etro made us all re-think a catsuits as an option for evening when presented, styled asymmetrically across the body like sarees, in their iridescent silks
