All change! A/W may be the season of brooding deep jewel colours, but if yesterday's three big shows are anything to go by, S/S ‘09 will see a decidedly gentler and (dare we say it) easier to wear colour palette on offer. Pale pewter, shimmering silver and smoky pinks took centre stage at Giorgio Armani, while Christopher Bailey - the man's a colour genius we tell you! - at Burberry Prorsum artfully mixed faded tobacco, slate grey, chartreuse and sea spray green to create colours that mimicked a perfect English summer's day. While Alberta Ferretti took ultra-feminine shrimp pink, violet and dusty lilac and threw them together with teal, peacock blue or russet which proved a striking and truly modern combination. Texture was also a major theme. From Armani's gauzy crinkled jackets, to Ferretti's luxurious fringing and Burberry's sequin dipped snakeskin trenches, plain simply isn't an option this spring.
