As the lights went down to signal the start of the Giles A/W ‘09 show, two figures sprinted down the catwalk – it was rapper/wannabe designer Kanye West and his shorn- headed girlfriend, Amber Rose. Unfortunately, the FROW was already packed with the great and the good of the fashion world, plus a smattering of celebs: Roisin Murphy, David Walliams and his date Lauren Budd, Erin O'Connor and... er, Lorraine Kelly, so there was only one seat left. Kanye gallantly offered it up to Amber while a PR nipped backstage for another chair. Drama over, the show started. The zippered invitation was a clue as to what to expect from the collection. It referenced the incredibly sexy Louboutin zippered boots he showed with most of the looks. Zippers, fetish and punky details were a running theme mixed in with elegant 1940s silhouettes and amazing prints. Along with the usual 'supers', Giles kept it real with a smattering of tattooed models who had been recruited by stylist Fran Burns on a street casting. Why? Giles told us afterwards he'd gone back to what he originally loved about fashion. ‘I wanted to experiment and have fun.' Well, it worked. The show was a vintage Giles mix of the edgy, the witty and the jaw-droppingly gorgeous. We loved!
WHAT WE LOVED:
The rubber T-shirt and felt miniskirt encrusted with crystals worn by Jourdan Dunn.

The AMAZING thigh-length boots that came in high-shine leather, colourful suede and metallic leather and had zips snaking all the way up them.

The grey felt miniskirt suit trimmed with thousands of safety pins.

The fine mohair T-shirts decorated with fabulous crystals.

The gorgeous fishing flies print.

The red carpet-worthy panelled smoke grey silk gown and fabulous Stephen Jones hat.
