Il Bottacio was heavy with fashion heavy-weights and hipsters to see what Charles Anastase, the French Armenian who decamped to London from Paris last season, would do next. Turns out he really arrived. Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof and an assortment of hip Parisian girls with almost chic dark circles under their eyes lined the runway. From the moment the first model stomped out in Marc Bolan T-Rex (or if you were born post 1985) platform boots, skinny legs encased in purple denim, you knew this was gonna be cool. And so it came to pass.
The collection was inspired by the idea that a bunch of cool, rebellious (French) teenagers had broken into a crumbling French Chateau and squatted it. While there they mixed their purple jeans, striped leggings, defaced biker jackets, cardigans and said muddied platform boots and trend-blended it with the contents of the Chateau’s wardrobes, as well as with curtains and blankets from the various bed-chambers.
The result was a crazy clash of styles. A tartan blanket became a skirt layered over sheer silk with a biker jacket, say. Or a pale pink mohair princes coat (inspired by Malia Obama) was paired with raggedy boots. In short Charles Anastase showed he belongs here now, as does his edgy and elegant stylist Valentine Fillier Cordiel. Good job guys!
Photographers getting moody and mardy: telling the male model who was walking too slowly to ‘come on’ and shouting at a poor intern standing at the side of the catwalk to ‘move that bag’ mid-show.
Daisy Lowe rocking up so late she lost her place on the FROW and had to stand at the back.
A fashion puzzle: the T-shirt bound with masking tape and scrawled with ‘I am in training, don’t kiss me.’
Tattooed boys stumbling the wrong way up the runway with lace-up flies on their jeans left open.
Malia Obama as an inspiration – princess pea coats and her name scrawled in paint on a biker jacket!
LOOKS WE LOVED:
Frill-neck denim shirt worn with the slim white long skirt and grey cashmere cardigan.
Long biker jacket with fur trim.
Pink mohair princess coat, inspired by Malia Obama.
The massive platform heels.
