Show of the week so far? We're feeling the frisson for Christopher Kane whose show this afternoon was bold, innovative and as wild as a troupe of gorillas. Demonstrating his singular vision, the 25-year-old Scot developed his signature look from last season. Opening the show was a model in a vivid orange and pink leopard-print cashmere sweater and a bulbous leather skirt with texture wrought from undulating ‘pages' of laser-cut fabric. As before, his silhouette was short and curvy for dresses, and long, lean and curvy for trouser/jacket ensembles. And what of the gorillas? Well, we should have got a clue from the gorilla calls on the pre-show soundtrack, the photo-prints of gorilla fur on some of the short, shapely dresses Kane propelled down his runway - plus the scary, roaring gorilla head prints on the bodice of a black minidress. Anyway! Gorillias aside, overall this was in the end a show dedicated to the stegosaurus, the spiny dinosaur with a brain the size of a walnut, and petals. The dino's signature spikes snaked up the sides of leather leggings, down the arms of riding-shaped jackets in organza or leather and appeared on the platform shoes that stomped the runway. We loved this show. See next week's Grazia for the full lowdown!
