Grazia Daily is excited - Thursday sees Prince William and Kate Middleton embark on their hotly anticipated tour of Canada and the US, which finishes on the 10th July and will, undoubtedly, involve LOTS of outfits and a selection of dinners and benefits (the dull sounding UK Trade and Investment benefit and the dull, and party-tastic BAFTA dinner) as well as playing Polo and, we hope, chillaxing with the Beckhams.
Naturally, this has created a furore of proportions not seen since the Royal wedding in terms of Dress Speculation. What will Kate wear? Will she look hopeless or marvellous? (Answer: marvellous). WWD, industry fashion bible, has employed the skills of some LA designer residents to share their thoughts on what Kate would look GREAT in when she swings by their city.
Super stylist Rachel Zoe sees Kate in an all-white ensemble, saying ‘at first glance, this look appears to be a dress, but it is actually two pieces — a maxiskirt and white blouse tucked in...beyond! It’s glamorous, Boho and sexy without being too revealing. Perfect for a beach party in Malibu’. BEYOND indeed, Rachel.
Kevan Hall – evening and bridal wear specialist, chooses his ‘off-the-shoulder jersey bodice gown with an origami silk satin-faced organza skirt with a crystal baguette-encrusted jewel belt in a gorgeous shade of raspberry. This look is perfect for royalty walking the red carpet.’ Indeedy doody Kevan, and we can TOTALLY see Kate rocking this.
Juan Carlos Obando, an art and creative director turned designer says that William and Kate’s trip is ‘the perfect excuse to throw a pair of cotton trousers, a soft linen jacket and a classic yet evocative silk blouse. The look reflects the balance of old Santa Barbara Style mixed with a new Los Feliz/Silver Lake chic’. We LOVE how Jackie O this is.
Lubov Azria of BCBG Max Azria puts Kate in ‘an easy yet beautiful tiered dress for day, with her favorite V-neck and a refined tea length’. Tres chic.
Larry Leight, founder and creative director of Oliver Peoples says ‘with these shades, the couple will fit right in to the culture and enjoy the L.A. sun’. Sun! *tearful*
Michele Manz creative director for Seven for All Mankind says ‘William and Catherine in Seven For All Mankind exude a natural, effortless off-duty California style with premium denim as the foundation’.
