Jessica Simpson turned to Carolina Herrera for her wedding day [People]
UPDATE: It happened just a matter of days ago but already we've got a good look at Jessica Simpson's wedding to Eric Johnson. The couple have bagged the cover of People magazine, which sees them looking radiantly loved-up with the bride clad in her princess-worthy Carolina Herrera gown.
'I saw my gorgeous wife coming towards me and she was crying,' says the groom who wore a custom charcoal gray John Varvatos tuxedo. 'I think my heart was exploding a little bit.' Read more about the dress below and click over to People.com for more snaps.
It was just last week that we were cooing over Olivia Palermo's glorious wedding ensemble - a sweater and shorts, no less, by Carolina Herrera. Now the designer has another star to add to her A-list list: Jessica Simpson.
The star exchanged 'I Dos' with Eric Johnson on Saturday 5th July in front of friends and family, including sister Ashlee and good pal Jessica Alba. They've described the day as 'the happiest moment of our lives', it took place in Santa Barbara, California, their son Ace was the ring bearer and their daughter Maxwell was the flower girl - but in all honesty, it's The Dress we're desperate to hear about.
A wedding portrait has emerged which shows Jessica wearing a cathedral-length veil with her hair swooped off her face and falling into blonde waves. She's added a touch of sparkle courtesy of Neil Lane diamond earrings and rumour has it she wore Brian Atwood heels. It's truly gorgeous.
We might not have a full-length photo (yet), but here's a sketch of the custom-made Carolina Herrera. It shows a sumptuous champagne and gold strapless gown covered in layers of tulle. Wowsers! 'The whole dress is embroidered in gold and feels very regal,' Herrera said. As a final touch, the designer added a blue ribbon on the inside of the gown as Simpson’s something blue. 'I always do that because I think it brings good luck,' she explained.
'It was a labour of love,' Simpson's longtime friend and stylist Nicole Chavez told People of nailing the perfect wedding day look. And according to the bride's hair stylist Roque Jimenez, Jessica chose a look that was 'sexy, easy and ethereal. Nothing too contrived.' Meanwhile, makeup artist Karan Mitchell chose a romantic palette for her makeup.
Olivia Palermo, Renee Zellweger and Bella Swan all chose Carolina Herrera for their Big Day
Carolina Herrera has long been a go-to for stars tying the knot. In the past, she's created bridal looks for Evan Rachel Wood, Renee Zellweger, Christina Hendricks and, umm, Bella Swan, as well as Olivia Palermo's fashion-forward ensemble.
