Emma Watson may be best known for her decade-long role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, which she endured eight auditions to nab, but the British actress has since become a style star in her own right.
Emma, the prettiest little thing ever in Grazia Daily’s humble opinion, was born in Paris (that explains the chicness) in April 1990 but mainly grew up in Oxford with her family. Despite spending the bulk of her childhood as a film star, she still managed to secure eight A*s as well as two As at GCSE. Yep, not just a pretty face.
As the brainy Brit matured and that English Rose beauty blossomed, she caught the eye of luxury powerbrands including Burberry, who signed her up for their Autumn Winter 2009 campaign. The Burberry-perfect looks run in the family and for Spring Summer 2010, Emma's brother was shot by Mario Testino alongside his sister. It wasn't long before she was snapped us as the oh-so-pretty face of Lancome and was bagging magazine covers around the world. She's now filming 'The End Of The World' alongside Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen and Rihanna!
On the off-duty front, Emma shocked us all when she ditched the Hermione hair and rocked a super-cool ultra-short pixie crop. 'I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever,' she said at the time, possibly referring to her Harry Potter contract which would almost certainly have prohibited her from drastically changing her hair while playing the muggle school girl. The star has also turned her talents to design, creating collections and modelling for ethical label People Tree, as well as for Italian designer Alberta Ferretti.
Somehow, in between acting, modelling and designing, Emma has found the time to study English Literature at both Brown University in the US and a little closer to home at the prestigious Oxford University. As Natalie Portman has already proved, brains and beauty under the papazzari glare can be done.
Miss Watson's been through quite the style evolution along the way and rocked frocks by mega brands from Chanel and Balmain to McQueen for her many red carpet appearances. ‘I used to look back at pictures and cringe but actually I'm quite proud that I've had fun with fashion and don't always look perfect,' she's said of her sartorial choices. 'The only regret I have is when I look at something I wore when I was very young and it obviously looks like it belonged to someone else.’
