After rising up the ranks from an ASOS regular, she swiftly became the catwalks' most wanted, and is now, well on her way to breaking Hollywood.

We wanted to celebrate this phenomenal success. And so we have chartered the rise and... rise of the British beauty below.

Find out all sorts of facts and points of interest about the style icon, and if you scroll down to the bottom, you can check out her style file from recent years too.

Cara's Key Dates

2002: Her first modelling job

Cara was only 10 when she was photographed by Bruce Weber for Vogue Italia.

2009: She was ‘discovered’ by Sarah Doukas

Owner of Storm Model Management, Sarah Doukas scouted Cara when she was 17 and studying at Bedales, the secondary school also attended by Sarah's daughter. It was fitting that Cara should be signed by Doukas, for the latter also discovered another well-known model, in JFK airport back in 1998. You might have heard of her – she was called Kate Moss.

2012: Her big break

Cara worked for a year without winning a single paid modelling job. However, in a part-time role for ASOS, she was spotted by Burberry's Christopher Bailey. The rest, as they say, is history. (Because, well, think Burberry, think Cara.)

2012: Her big acting break

September 2012 saw Cara appear in her first feature film, Joe Wright's Anna Karenina as Princess Sorokina.

In 2014, she appeared in Face of an Angel as 'Melanie' and this year, bagged her first leading role in Paper Towns as Margo Roth Spiegelman.

We're really excited about her upcoming role in Suicide Squad, where she plays the fictional supervillain, Enchantress.

That said, she isn’t about to start letting go of the fashion gig; she merely wants to explore other projects. And who can blame her? We’d do the same if we could.

2012: Earning Her Wings With Victoria's Secret

Cara walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in November 2012, the one which also featured Justin Bieber. She was given her coveted wings that year too, alongside Karlie Kloss and best pal Jourdan Dunn.

2012: Her first time winning the BFA ‘Model of the Year’ Award

To top off what was a particularly spectacular year for the star, in late November 2012 Cara won British Fashion Award's 'Model of the Year', which speaks for itself, really, doesn't it? She went on to win the gong again in 2014 – which also speaks for itself.

2013: She trademarked her name

She's a clever girl, is 'our' Cara. This type of business acumen echoes that of Cara's pal Taylor Swift, who trademarked ‘this sick beat’ from song, Shake It Off.

2014: The Cara Bag landed

Following on from the success of their collaboration with Alexa Chung – which brought us the 'Alexa bag' – British brand Mulberry approached Cara to collaborate.  The 'Cara bag' was born.

2015: She reached over 17m followers on Instagram

From bacon to snaps of Ms Moss, and of course her incredible Dubsmash Skills, we love to [heart] Cara. All 17million of us.

2015: She spoke at the Women Of The World Conference

In this year's conference, Cara opened up about her experience of depression, specifically referencing both her struggle with the skin condition, psoriasis, and her inability to find a healthy work/life balance throughout her modelling career.

She highlighted a time when Kate Moss had to pick her up 'off the floor' and insist that she take a break.

Cara's Tattoos

She has 14 in total and we’ve provided you with a definitive guide to them and their meanings. Alas one of our favourites – the word 'bacon' tattooed on her foot – is now a bit controversial.

Cara's Relationships

The model is currently dating musician St Vincent, who she credited earlier this year as the reason she's feeling so happy at the moment. Indeed, there’s no denying that they looked adorable on the FROW together this fashion month.

Before her, Cara dated actress Michelle Rodriguez, and has also been linked to Harry Styles and Jake Bugg.

Cara's Crew

Cara may be part of the 'Swifties' army, but Taylor is just as much a part of the supermodel’s supertastic squad as well.

The other leading members are (in no particular order):

Kate Moss – her go-to in times of struggle

Jourdan Dunn – she loves her so much, she had ‘DD’  – short for 'Delevingne' and 'Dunn' (who knows in which order) – tattooed onto her hip, as did Jourdan herself.

Kendall Jenner – the duo's nickname 'CaKe' is often referenced on Instagram, most recently on an actual cake to mark Kendall’s birthday.

Rita Ora – the former ‘wifey’, Cara was often photographed with the singer until their relationship cooled when they reportedly fell out in 2013. Following a reunion at this year’s Golden Globes, the pair are thought to have patched things up.

Karl Lagerfeld  – Cara was chosen to be a Chanel Bride last year, and one of the few times she stepped onto the catwalk this season was for Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel show.

Other members of Cara's squad include: Gigi Hadid, Georgia May Jagger, Suki Waterhouse, Clara Paget and Poppy Jamie – not forgetting Cara's sisters Poppy and Chloe.

Those Brows Though...

We can't talk about Cara and not mention those brows; the ones that have inspired a whole new generation of eye hair lovers. How many people do you know can dye their brows blue and still look good? Probably only Cara.

So famous are her hairy facial features, they've become a talent in their own right – see Graham Norton's Show featuring Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke for all the evidence you need.

Indeed so well-known are they, they have allegedly caused a significant drop in sales for tweezer company, Tweezerman – to such an extent the brand have apparently stopped sending her samples.

What we're most jealous of though, is what little maintenance they require; she is said to only have to tweeze them in the middle to prevent a monobrow. The rest are perfect. Urgh, so unfair!

Cara's Style

'Model off-duty' was always a thing, but Cara has made it the only style you ever want to channel. Ever.

As a serious tomboy, biker jackets and boots are staples in her wardrobe, and Burberry features a lot on her style roster too.

What we love is how she effortlessly matches unique separates together to form killer outfits. And also that, as the former face of Topshop, there’s always a bit of high street lurking somewhere too.
