Black Friday was a very dark day for shopping in the UK. On Friday last week Britain's high street stores followed the US tradition of super slashed prices the day after Thanksgiving and oh chaos ensued! Arrests and stampedes saw scrabbling shoppers flung across the floors of Asda, Apple and John Lewis.
It is surely no wonder that today marks the biggest online sales shopping boom of the year - staying home and click-buying seems to be the safest way to sale-shop. We also couldn't be more excited - remember those days when we waited for the January sales? Now we can buy our entire christmas shopping list from our homes AND at discounted prices. John Lewis expect 80,000 orders today whilst Amazon are hoping for over 3.5 million (we bet their 11-mile-a-day-walking warehouse operaters aren't!). That's £5,208 spent per second!!
Yes, tis the season for gift-giving but with a vast choice of fashion and beauty goodies on sale we are so on the hunt for our party dresses, hair tools (the price-cuts on tools are wild but no sprawling around on the floor of the electrical aisle, please - this is the chic way to sale-shop). So Many of our first fashion stops have joined the party and we are hankering after some fab Mary Katrantzou from Browns, timeless gold Ottoman Hands jewellery (could also make a good gift if you're really feeling generous) at ASOS, festive silver Aldo court shoes and the glorious silk camo-print pants from Whistles - to name but a few.
