Whether you prefer to bare all in a mini or cover up in a maxi, a skirt can be an instant update to your wardrobe. Instead of opting for your failsafe plain skirts, why not turn it up and go for one of this season’s statement print skirts? That's exactly what Lily Collins did at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards this weekend when she arrived on the red blue carpet working this flamboyant skirt by Fausto Puglisi.
Prints have long been popular on the catwalk, and judging by the Autumn Winter 2013 collections, a printed skirt is still worth the investment. Print supremo Mary Katrantzou has pioneered the power print skirt and her current offerings are particularly lust-worthy. With her autumnal scene prints and strong silhouettes, her skirts will fast forward you straight into the new season. Peter Pilotto is also another key label to look out for when it comes to printed skirts – the duo’s symmetrical printed pencils continue to be a key buy.
This season there are also two new skirt shapes on the block – the midi skirt and the full skirt. Both have flooded the shop rails as hem lines have descended towards a more demure lady length.
Luckily it’s not only designers who have nailed these new lengths. High street giants including Topshop has a great selection of geometric printed skirts at a purse friendly price, while Whistles has produced a gem of a camo print skirt to rival the catwalk designer’s wares.
Whatever you’re preferred printed skirt length, team it with a simple top and killer shoes to let the skirt do all the talking. And when the mercury drops switch it up with a fluffy jumper and brogues! Shop our pick of the best printed skirts…
