Show Us Your Chokers! Rihanna Sets Her Instagram Followers A Fashion Challenge

26 September 2013 by

If you're following Rihanna on Instagram (and let's be honest, who isn't?), you'll know she sent out a call to arms to her billion fans earlier today. She's on a mission to get her 'Navy' to send her pics of Ri-Ri's signature accessories, starting with... chokers! Yes, chokers have become the singer's fashion focus of the week in an attempt to beat that yacht-side runway of glorious swimwear. Her followers had front-row seats to her entire lycra wardrobe, from a (mostly) unzipped scuba one-piece to a Lisa Marie Fernandez baby pink terry-towel twist bikini accessorised with her trademark tats and a bright red hibiscus flower tucked one ear.

Rihanna’s now asking fans to get interactive by adding to her fashion frenzy and posting their favourite pictures of the singer sporting her favourite necklace. Or, in the words of Bad Gal RiRi: “#NAVYPHOTOCHALLENGE Post your fave pics of me wearing one of my must have accessories, #CHOKERS”. Yes ma'am!

We know very well that Rihanna loves to give her urban look a gothy edge but if you click on the #NAVYPHOTOCHALLENGE hashtag, your minds will be blown: the choker appearances are INFINITE. Turns out, the style star wears these bad boys with every look imaginable, from eveningwear to lingerie, basketball vests, vintage, gowns, Louis Vuitton and beanies (check out our gallery above for proof). They add a hard but gilt, vampy edge to any look and are possibly the best accessory to sum up the performer’s characterful style.

So do you want to get involved? Luckily, there are chokers aplenty from the high street to the high end retailer. If Rihanna's influence thus far is anything to go by (from River Island collections to fans worldwide adopting her urban look), we say grab one now for an instant Rihann-esque update whilst you still can.
