It's Christmas Party Time! So What's Your Party Print?

GALLERY >> What's Your Party Print?

Leopard, camo or evil eye… If the catwalk has taught us anything, it’s that prints are the only way to get through winter without a SAD lamp. With news that the average woman spends 49 (yes, 49!) hours trying to source the perfect Christmas party outfit, we’re on hand to help you nail the look you’re going for.

The Creative One: Anna Dello Russo, Dior A/W '13, Lily Collins

What: arty motifs.

Wear if you… want to break the ice with a new colleague. What better way to start a conversation over office cava than with a cartoon print or statement illustration?

Pair with… minimal make-up. You don’t want to terrify anyone.

On the catwalk: Dior.

On the high street: Whistles’ Ivy Smudge skirt.

The Fashion One: Ashley Madekwe, Moschino A/W '13, Rita Ora

What: tartan.

Wear if you… will interact with your boss at any point in the evening – it’s the only print to marry fashion cred with wearability. Also, checks are great if you spill something down yourself. Nobody will notice.

Pair with… black tights if wearing a kilt, or do courts and trousers.

On the catwalk: Moschino.

On the high street: a tartan two-piece from Zara. You can wear either separately or together – both are strong looks.

The Safe One: Katy Perry, Saint Laurent A/W '13, Miranda Kerr

What: winter florals.

Wear if you… have a noncommittal approach to trends.

Pair with… glamorous accessories to move it from pretty to party – we’re thinking Charlotte Olympia heels, disco bag and a serious up-do.

On the catwalk: Saint Laurent.

On the high street: Mango’s subversive florals.

The Urban One: Christopher Kane A/W '13, Rihanna

What: camouflage.

Wear if you… are afraid of prints. I mean, camo isn’t strictly a print, now is it?

Pair with… the highest of heels (think Rihanna) to give instant glamour. Unless you’re in the Territorial Army, of course.

On the catwalk: Christopher Kane.

On the high street: Whistles’ camo jacquard dress? Foolproof. And warm.

The Edgy One: Denni Elias, Hailee Steinfeld, Kenzo A/W '13

What: evil eye.

Wear if you… are off to a fash-wan party – all those pupils might scare the horses at the average work do.

Pair with… head-to-toe evil eye. Full on is the way to pull it off.

On the catwalk: Kenzo.

On the high street: Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop has eyeball dresses aplenty.

The Classic One: Jennifer Lopez, Burberry Prorsum A/W '13, Kate Moss

What: leopard.

Wear if you… plan to snog someone. It remains a perennial among the fash pack while being seductively slutty, too. In a good way.

Pair with… something low-key (a leopard-print coat over a little black dress, you say? Why not!) and red lipstick to avoid looking anaemic.

On the catwalk: Burberry Prorsum.

On the high street: a work-to-party transition-wear skirt from M&S.
