Lady Geek's GADGET Christmas Gift Guide

We've already treated our dear readers to the top fashion buys for your Christmas stocking - but now it's the turn of Lady Geek. We've teamed up with the switched-on techheads because they know how to make technology accessible AND interesting for women. Yes it IS cool to know about technology. So without further ado, here's Lady Geek's letter to Santa...

1. Samsung ES8000 Series 8 SMART 3D HD TV, £2,099.00

1. Samsung ES8000 Series 8 SMART 3D HD TV, £2,099.00

Season’s Geekings! Top of the Lady Geek list this year is the stunning Samsung HD 3D Smart TV, complete with spoken and gesture commands and full internet connectivity (partly because I’m fed up with looking for the remote).  If you’d like, you could complement that with the new Nintendo Wii U games console, with its innovative new controller (for my nieces and nephews, obviously..). currys.co.uk

2. Nokia Lumia 920 - free on a £36 a month contract

2. Nokia Lumia 920 - free on a £36 a month contract

A new year also deserves a new phone. The Nokia Lumia 920 should be perfect, with its top of the range screen and camera, stylish and customisable Windows interface and state-of-the-art ‘no wires’ charging plate. The only problem is the cold weather: I’d rather not get frostbite while I’m using it to check my Twitter. A pair of Mujjo gloves should do the trick. They’re designed to work on all touchscreens, so will stop my fingers freezing off in the name of Facebook. phones4u.co.uk

3. Microsoft Surface with Windows RT 32GB, £479.00

3. Microsoft Surface with Windows RT 32GB, £479.00

When I escape to warmer climes on holiday, I’d love to bring the light and powerful Microsoft Surface tablet with Touch Cover keyboard with me so that I can work on the go (alright, play games and watch movies on the go…). microsoftstore.com

4. Samsung Galaxy 16 Megapixel Digital Camera, £399

4. Samsung Galaxy 16 Megapixel Digital Camera, £399

If you’re feeling particularly generous, it’d also be great to have the super-smart Samsung Galaxy Camera in my suitcase. As well as taking great photos it comes loaded with all sorts of fancy editing programs, apps and filters. Most importantly it lets me upload beachside snaps straight to my social networks, making everyone at home jealous... samsungdirect.com

5. X-mini MAX II, £30.99

5. X-mini MAX II, £30.99

The world has been deprived of my excellent collection of '80s pop for too long. It’s time to change that with set of X-mini MAX II portable speakers. Probably the best fully portable speakers around, they give out a crystal clear sound and are small enough to fit in a coat pocket. amazon.co.uk

6. SwiMP3 2G, £138.79

6. SwiMP3 2G, £138.79

Finally, I’m planning to up the exercise following my inevitable Christmas binge-fest and I desperately need your help. The SwiMP3 music player is lets you listen to your tunes in the pool, and does away with troublesome headphones, transmitting sound straight through your jawbone. It’s a bit sci-fi freaky, but should give a great listening experience while I’m powering through my backstroke. I’ve also got my eye on the Nike+ Fuel Band, a wristband that monitors your daily exercise and sends the info to your smartphone, lighting up from red to green the more active you are. Obviously I’ll be keeping it green. amazon.co.uk

Priya Samuel (Wed Dec 05 14:55:48 GMT 2012): Santa definitely needs to up his geek cred to keep up with the Lady Geeks this Christmas. The smart camera from Samsung looks like a great device to take on a holiday! And I love the stylish curves on the Nokia 960 too.
Simone Giovagnorio (Thu Dec 06 10:23:29 GMT 2012): You can save money for other cravings not buying special gloves for the Lumia 920! It works with any!!!!
