How To Dress For The Cartier Polo And Other Fancy Summer Events: SHOPPING FIX

18 June 2013 by

Thanks to a well-dressed crowd at the Cartier Queen’s Cup Polo this past weekend, we’re that extra bit inspired to frock up and get smart. Well, with all sorts of dress codes ahead of us this summer – from weddings through to the races, garden parties to gallery openings – there’s plenty of room for wardrobe improvement.

Thandie Newton and Celine Buckens at the Cartier Queen's Cup

We were enamoured with Her Majesty's head-to-toe red styling as she watched over the grand finale of the polo calendar, however, our two favourite looks of the day came from Thandie Newton and Celine Buckens. Thandie confidently won the bet for prettiest attendee in her ultra-feminine tulle dress from Temperly and matchy matchy cream cocktail coat. While newbie actress Celine (War Horse) galloped into the fashion fore with her quirky bomber-over-printed-dress get-up. They managed to bare legs and look highly summery despite the less-than-favourable weather. Well done ladies.

The easiest way to ace strict sartorial regulations is, of course, to find yourself a top notch dress. It's how you style it up that can make it individual. Will you go for clashy heels? Metallics? Or maybe a radical jacket like Miss Buckens? Here are our favourite buys for a sophiscated outfit fix…

Biker jacket, £298, All Saints

Costume necklace, £22.99, Zara

Cream dress, £1250, Temperley London on Avenue32.com

Floral dress, £65, ASOS

Metallic sandals, was £169, now £119, Reiss

Embellished clutch, £1260, Lanvin on Net-A-Porter.com
