[American Hustle]

So you might have heard that a little thing called the Oscars is taking place this weekend. It's been a big year for cool film looks, as American Hustle has Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams transformed into 70s sirens, while '80s pencil skirts and Moschino bling are the backdrop to The Wolf of Wall Street. And who could forget that Chanel jacket Cate Blanchett wears in Blue Jasmine, which was sent to her with a personal note from Karl? So if you want to recreate these iconic cinematic looks - perhaps for an Oscars themed party - then consult our special shopping fix below...

1. Do the American Hustle...

Halston Heritage, Draped double-faced satin gown - £575; Open cube necklace, Topshop - £14.50; LE VERNIS Nail Colour, Chanel - £18; Pop Wrap Limited Edition T72 dress, Diane Von Furstenberg, £384; Big felt hat, Topshop - £28; Mint sequin pencil skirt, Topshop - £65; Chain tassel earrings, Oscar de la Renta - £380

Amy Adams is drenched in sequins, sequins and more sequins in the 70s crime drama American Hustle. To get the look wear disco brights and wrap dresses - don't be scared of gaudy jewellery. Looking for a quick fix? Jennifer Lawrence's obsession is her delicious smelling nail top coat - and what is more tempting than red Chanel nail varnish?

2. Channel Blue Jasmine...

Heels, J Crew - £278; Intrecciato gold-plated earrings, Bottega Veneta - £245; Blazer, Two tone leather clutch, Victoria Beckham - £350; Zara - £69.99; Round-frame acetate sunglasses, The Row - £270; Cropped shirt, Zara - £29.99; Shoes, Todds - £245; Set of three gold-plated bangles, Kenneth Jay Lane - £105; Selma satchel, Michael Kors - £315; Pretty ballerinas, Orchid striped silk blouse, J Crew - £200; Shirt, Zara - £25.99

In Blue Jasmine Cate Blanchett is all about looking expensive. Think chic neutrals and gold jewellery. Karl Lagerfeld sent Cate her own classic Chanel jacket, but for those still waiting on your Karl delivery Zara do a great version. We spoke to the costume designer Suzy Benzinger who said about the jacket: “We wanted to have an item that bridged her ‘Upper East Side life’ and the period where she was down on her luck. It had to be a universal item that the audience would recognise immediately. It also had to be an item that she took out of her wardrobe as she ran out of the apartment. It wasn’t in the script but I decided on what it would through conversations with Woody.  I laid myself at Lagerfeld’s feet and said ‘please could we have it?’ We were very lucky because he said yes. It was shocking.”

3. Do '80s Glitz Like In Wolf of Wall Street...

Herve Leger, bandage dress - £1,490; Kurt Geiger, black heels - £160; Moschino bag - £721; Michael Kors bag - £315; Moschino bag - £209; Miu Miu, sunglasses - £240; M&S, leather pencil skirt - £149;  Versace, gold-plated necklace - £730; Ralph Lauren, blazer - £175; Topshop, leather pencil skirt - £125;  Zara, quilted leather jacket - £159; Kenneth Jay Lane - £185

The Wolf of Wall Street's Naomi Lapaglia (played by Margot Robbie) loves bling, bling and more bling. We spoke to Margot Robbie about the fashion in the film who said: 'It’s not my style or anything I ever intend on wearing but for the sake of the character and creating her they really helped. We had a brilliant costume designer who was very specific about using the original brands. She looked at the pictures of Nadine (the real-life Naomi) back in the day and sourced those brands from the specific year the scenes were filmed in. That’s how accurate it was. It was really awesome trying them all on and we used to do hours of fittings. It was so cool seeing vintage Chanel, Versace, Armani...'
