Case in point: RiRi’s new dark side, complete with a rat’s-tail-mullet hybrid. Said hair do is causing much debate within the corridors of Grazia HQ: will it always be a wronger than wrong style best left for Deep South truckers? If Rihanna can’t pull it off, can a mere mortal? Or is this hair extension just so incredibly fashion forward we simply don’t understand it?

RiRi’s new rocker locks reflect the fact that her wardrobe has stepped back into the nineties – with dare we say it, more than a dash of The Craft inspiring her New York Fashion Week choices. Remember the bias-cut dresses, crucifix chokers and dark lipstick of Neve Campbell and her witchy crew in the ’96 cult horror flick?

And it’s one of the first summer-to-autumn looks filtering onto the high street – via spaghetti strap maxis, sloppy cardigans and bovver boots (notably DMs are resurging once more) - meaning it’s easy peasy to get cracking on this new version of an old style.
