Five Ways To Dress In This Weekend's Rain: Shopping Fix

01 February 2013 by

This unpredictable weather can do terrible things to a girl’s wardrobe. That is why we’ve trawled our favourite personal style blogs – the ones that aren’t in sunny L.A. or super-hot Oz – to find out how these trusted fashion mavens are tackling the, frankly quite irritating, climate. We can’t guarantee you won’t get totally soaked – decide to not carry an umbrella at your own peril – but we certainly can guide you in the right direction when it comes to layering, wise outerwear choices and peppy injections to even cheer up an all-black ensemble. You can even mix and match the ideas for full head-to-toe wet weather dressing! Scroll through the gallery above for inspiration and shop the looks below…

1. Work a leather or wax-finish jean:
Ok, these aren’t officially watertight, but they’ll certainly do a better job than regular denim. The oxbloog colourway appears to be the most popular, but classic black leathers will always be chic chic chic. 2. Do the flippy skirt and knee-boot combo:
Very Givenchy, very good for keeping warm in a streamline way. We’ve noticed a common thread for this look – the coat must be robe-shouldered. 3. Inject textures into a black ensemble:
An oldie but a goodie. Think rips, patent, leather, denim, chunky knits… simples! 4. Leopard print!
Ok, leopard print does absolutely NOTHING to keep you warm or dry, but it looks damn good and certainly lifts a drab outfit into sassy territory. Leopard spots are all over the blogosphere and streets right now – and during men’s and couture fashion weeks we’ve witnessed leo going head-to-toe. Go as wild as you desire.
