With the arrival of Resort collections in store, we’re almost at the end of the autumn/winter 2013 season and one particular fashion house has had the monopoly on it: Valentino by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.

The most spotted Valentino item to date still remains the Rockstud pointed kitten heels. These feisty little heels are not new to the season, but even after years in the fashion sphere the new arrivals in fresh colourways and finishes continue to fly out of stores. From China to the US, the Oscars to the Grammys, front row to behind-the-scenes, celebrities, fashion editors and stylists have relied upon the intricate evening dresses that this duo have become known for.

Alexa Chung was one of the first to pick up their embroidered posy dresses, slipping into a cute, white-collared floral mini for the New York signing of her book, It. This year’s collection proved to be popular amongst the most-photographed girls of fashion week in both February and September: Anna Dello Russo, Eliza Nalin, Miroslava Duma and Giovanna Battaglia are just a few of the insiders who flocked to the French fashion couturier for something distinctive.

Despite a strong signature look – and various indicators, like the instantly recognisable Valentino red – this fashion brand bridges the gap between ages, styles and occasions. Actress Sally Field, for example, chose the same red gown as Hilary Swank. Miley Cyrus chose to cover up in one of Valentino’s tailored tux-inspired jumpsuits, while Victoria’s Secret girl Candica Swanepoel flashed a lotta leg this week in a monochrome micro-mini shift.
