The truly amazing thing about leopard print – aka the pattern that really never goes out of fashion – is that it can be altered and adapted to suit anyone’s taste. Leopard can be kitsch, or it can be ferociously fashion forward – a purrrrfect example would be Stella McCartney boldly modelling her own recent Resort 2013 leopard look head-to-toe. Animal spots can be punky or sexy and feisty. The big cat’s popularity is perennial in fashion circles and beyond, and there are certain girls like Harley Viera Newton or Alexa Chung (who was spotted wearing this chic Antipodium coat from the brand's Pre-Fall collection - because she loved it so much, the team whipped one up especially for her before it goes on sale in June for £299) who always rely on bringing a bit of rockstar ‘tude to any ensemble with a little leo.

Stella McCartney’s leopard print pieces haven’t just been a hit in her own wardrobe, stockists have been reporting wild sales of these, too, and re-stocking has been happening despite the new season collections dropping into stores.
