‘Twas the biggest bridal weekend of the year thus far and we can’t help but feel a tad inspired to wear white lace (all the time) thanks to Kim Kardashian in custom-made Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci and Poppy Delevingne’s bridesmaid Cara in a white lace trouser suit from Peter Dundas at Emilio Pucci.
White lace is timeless both on and off the altar (and runway) and there’s a myriad of this virginal fabric to be found within the spring/summer 2014 collections. Some pieces look as thought they’ve been made with maritals in mind – opt for a full train and bodice combo you’ll likely encourage stares in the local Tesco Express – but many other pieces could be worn for any occasion. Whether you’re a wedding guest with a laid-back bezzie-mate bride, looking to liven up your workwear wardrobe or simply choose something sweet and simple for a romantic park picnic jaunt, the answer will most probably lie in white lace.

Proving to also be popular amongst the Cannes crew, we spotted Chloe Moretz and Kate Upton breezing through the Riviera in openwork frocks, while many key catwalk pieces – like Balmain’s lace shirt or Chloe’s lattice midi-dress – are currently sold out on the likes of Net-A-Porter.com. So it’s not just the pretty dress department where lovely lace is booming – you can now find white lace jumpsuits (check out new designer Charlie Brear on Avenue32.com), girlish skirt suits (see Oscar de la Renta) and even white lace shoes (Tory Burch’s guipere espadrilles are way cute).
