As those crisp mornings creep in, having strong outerwear game is at the forefront of our minds (our AW15 coat trends round up has all the inspo you'll need for that). But the chicest shape this season, comes in the form of the cape. So, we’ve rounded up some of the best capes (otherwise known as blankets / throws / shawls / wraps / plankets - you name it!) around town!

Moving on from Kimono-inspired drapes of the summer months, capes are taking on more structured shapes this season, ensuring there's no resemblance to a superhero's key accessory.

Forming the perfect alternative to your winter coat, our high street picks have favoured more classic styles. Zara’s houndstooth number taps into the heritage trend, without being excessively Sherlock-esque.

The designer picks also take cues from Victorian style influences, with McQueen's romantic rose print making us think of Dickensian England. Or at the other end of the spectrum, we love the 70s inspired paisley print from Etro, offering a quick and easy way to rock that trend.

Take a look below at the most captivating capes...
