Rihanna's Fashion Evolution
Is anyone having more fun with fashion right now than Rihanna? We don't think so. You never know what she will be wearing next - which is why we never get tired of watching. But Ri-Ri does have favourites. There's the Stella McCartney edgy-glam staples - lace print pyjamas, a marbled tuxedo dress and a black tailored jumpsuit - as well as her Manolo Blahnik double-strap sandals. And take a closer look at all that daywear: the accessory that's ever-present is a black leather Celine Nano tote. Yep, even fashion icons have a formula.
Rihanna first came into our lives back in 2005 as a fresh-faced 17-year-old after signing a contract with Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for Jay-Z. She was all about the tight-fitting tops and flesh-flashing frocks, but then came mega hit 'Umbrella' in 2007 and her career, as well as her sartorial stamp, sky rocketed.
Fast forward to 2012 and Rihanna has cemented her style status by teaming up with River Island to design her own high-street collection. And who could forget when she caused a stir backstage at the Victoria's Secret show after performing on the catwalk in a suitably saucy ensemble? This was followed by the revelation that the singer had shot a risque shoot with none other than ultimate girl crush, Kate Moss.
In fact, Ri-Ri has made several stylish friends during her rise to stardom, from Karlie Kloss to Cara Delevingne, which will no doubt up her kudos amongst the fash pack. What's more, the likes of Rita Ora and Jessie J are now following in her fashionable footsteps and she continues to surprise us with everything from pyjamas to head-to-heel menswear.
As the style chameleon we know and adore, Rihanna’s style vibe is bound to change in the next, ooh, five minutes - but one thing's for sure: we'll be watching right here on Grazia Daily.
