Jaeger's Fashion Evolution
Brilliantly well cut coats with modern detailing, plush knitwear, grown up tailoring and an emphasis on desirable accessories. These are the reasons that a new generation of women and men have turned their attention to shopping at Jaeger since Harold Tillman bought the business in 2003. Possibly the most surprising name of all the ailing heritage brands to be picked up, previously with a reputation as fodder for only the most hardcore of the home countries gin n' Jag brigade. It has now been made over in order to reverse its financial fortunes, in a relatively swift and painless process.
With a hand picked team of designers; - at one time Karen Boyd, now Stuart Stockdale, and a new slot on the schedule of LFW (the show is one of those earmarked by Anna Wintour of US Vogue these days). This showcase for the collections combines the luxurious everyday pieces tempered with just enough fashion magic and glitzy styling to ensure the press and therefore prestige that a high end label requires. Celebrities that cottoned on quickly include Victoria Beckham in a Jaeger London trouser suit, Claudia Schiffer, Kylie Minogue and Madonna. The company's turnaround points to a recession defying success story and a new Jaeger stand-alone store in Paris. Harold Tillman is also head of the British Fashion Council.
