Issa London's Fashion Evolution
Rio carnival via West London! An array of carnival-bright colours; fuschias, limes and tangerines, party fabrics satin and silk, nipped in waists, bodices and one shoulder-numbers, Issa is a label favoured by women of a certain mindset, rather than age group. Flattering, extrovert and sexy but in the prettiest possible way, non controversial but respected among editors, the collections are a ray of light on the grey London landscape, embodied by Naomi Campbell opening the catwalk shows.
Brazilian born West London girl Daniella Helayel created her first dress as a reaction to being unable to find the clothes she wanted in the shops - 'I wanted a dress that made me feel comfortable and glamorous at the same time - something that could take me anywhere, from work to play, bedroom to boardroom,' says Daniella. Now customers in her boutiques from Brazil to Paris and New York join the ranks that include Madonna, Scarlett Johansson, Sharon Stone, Kylie Minogue, and especially the Dutchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa in adding a splash of colour to their wardrobe grace à this South American seamstress.
