Eva Mendes's Fashion Evolution
Eva Mendes became a household name after starring in films such as Hitch, All About The Benjamins and 2 Fast 2 Furious. But her job description has bulked out since she started acting in the 90s, as she now can add the titles 'front row veteran,' 'singer,' 'designer,' 'model' and most importantly 'Ryan Gosling's girlfriend' to her CV. If only!
Eva has certainly had a varied career, from appearing in Will Smith's video Miami in 1996 to being an ambassador for Cartier to collaborating with Cee Lo Green. She's no stranger to working with designers as she was the face of Calvin Klein underwear, was the face of Thierry Mugler and had her own home line, Vida.
But in February 2013 she announced she is also starting her own fashion line, as she has teamed up with New York & Company Inc. to create Eva by Eva Mendes. She told WWD: 'The other day, I went to the office with half my closet. Part of the fun is coming up with the designs and looking through my closet. There are a lot of prints and lots of colour. Black can be very chic and very New York.'
So what about Eva's personal style? The star chooses ladylike cuts, bright colours and floral prints in the day and on the red carpet, such as the tangerine Prada frock with an embroidered bustier she wore to the 2012 Met Ball. She's not afraid of taking a fashion risk, but also she's not one to be swamped in a smock, Olsen style-y layers or an oversized sweatshirt. She always thinks about how clothes can show off that figure.
Eva has buckets of sex appeal wearing body con, strapless gowns and sky-high stilettos. She is quite simply a red carpet knock out. Need proof? Her white strapless Dior gown with a collar by Van Cleef & Arpels she wore to the Golden Globes in 2009.
