Audrey Tautou's Fashion Evolution

French import Audrey Tautou burst onto our radar back in 2001 when the Parisian pixie starred in Amelie. If one actress can make us head straight to the world cinema aisles and brave subtitled films it is Audrey who has starred in Amelie, Priceless and Coco Avant Chanel. She also starred in the film version of Dan Brown's the Da Vinci Code alongside Tom Hanks.

On screen, Audrey wowed on the French Riviera in Priceless in a white LBD, a plunging black floor sweeper and a dove grey, rope halter dress, all accessorised with strings of pearls and cocktail umbrellas stuck in her hair. The gallic girl landed the ultimate Parisian part, playing the one and only Coco Chanel in Coco Avant Chanel. For the biopic Auds wore Chanel suits, striped nautical tees, black ball gowns, silk pajamas, small trouser suits and hats. Plus over 200 costumes in the film were originals.

Audrey also landed another saught after role with Chanel as a No. 5 girl. Audrey starred in a mini movie for the iconic fragrance shot by Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Like all No5 ads it is a no expense spared romantic short, in which a man is enchanted by Audrey's scent after a chance encounter on the Orient Express night train from Paris to Istanbul.

As part of the Chanel family, Audrey is right at the top of the Chanel samples send out list and we're sure she gets a life time supply of No. 5. On her marathon promo tour for Coco Avant Chanel Auds worked her way through the finest Chanel frocks, wearing monochrome seperates and elegant litle black dresses.

Audrey's personal style is oh so French as she sticks to navy, black and cream. She manages to make a simple pair of navy trousers, a plain white ruffled top and black ballerina flats look exquisite. How do those Parisians do it? On the red carpet you will catch her in monochrome delicate dresses and the odd Coco Chanel-esque trouser suit. But occassionally she will take a surprising risk and wear, say, a kimono like the Dries Van Noten floral dress she wore to the AFI Film Festival.

Audrey will also be Mistress of Ceremonies during the Cannes Film Festival 2013. The role was previously undertaken by actress Berenice Bejo who was from a certain little Oscar-winning film called The Artist. Audrey will preside over both the opening ceremony, the prize-giving finale and welcome the President of the Festival de Cannes, Steven Spielberg, and his Jury onto the stage of the Grand Théâtre Lumière. Very important stuff.
