Natalie Portman's Fashion Evolution
Having been in the spotlight for as long as Natalie Portman has, you would have thought she might have endured some pretty jaw-dropping style disasters. However, since shooting her first major role in Star Wars, all the way back in 1999, the fresh-faced actress has maintained a steady trajectory in the style stakes. Her hair, meanwhile, has seen its fair share of transformations.
Ever the dedicated actress, Natalie’s physical changes have come with her different film roles. Most memorably, she shaved off ALL of her hair for V for Vendetta and went under a gruelling body transformation to play ballet dancer Nina in Black Swan, shedding a whopping 20 pounds! And with news that she's set to star as fashion's First Lady, Jackie O, we're itching to see Natalie play up her retro side.
Off-screen, the brunette-turned-blonde beauty has somewhat of a split style personality. While the actress can appear to be the low-key girl next door during the day in nothing more than a pair of jeans and a cosy coat, she easily transforms into a sexy, vampy goddess, all dark-eyed and seductive, for an evening on the red carpet. But she accessorises in true geek chic style, adding an Olympia Le-Tan classic book cover clutch to her glam look.
On the fashion front, the mother of one tends to stick to designers that she knows and loves. After being snapped up by Dior, it’s no surprise that she often takes to the red carpet in gloriously feminine creations by the French fashion house. Who could forget when she arrived at the Oscar Awards in 2012 swathed in a red vintage Dior dress?
Ms Portman is also a big admirer of Rodarte who designed her frothy costumes for Black Swan, but also created her wedding dress. Yep, Natalie got married to her ballet beau Benjamin Millepied in August 2012 wearing a custom-made tea-length gown by the Mulleavy sisters. 'Her dress was stunning, not overly showy or revealing,' said an insider. 'Very much her own subtle and pretty personal style — she always has a hippie theme, whatever she does.'
