Michelle Williams's Fashion Evolution
Emerging onto the scene and into our hearts in the early 1990's with her role as Jen in cult favourite Dawson's Creek, complete with curly bob and laid-back attire, Michelle Williams' graduation into a Hollywood superstar and fashion icon was most recently cemented by the fact that she just landed her first major fashion gig, as the face of Louis Vuitton's luxury handbags, no less! But where did it all begin?
Following a spat of full-length features like 1999 comedy film Dick in which Williams, alongside Kirsten Dunst, played a ditzy teen who became partly responsible for bringing down President Nixon, Michelle delved into some indies, appearing on red carpets in converse and simple dresses, grungy attitute and 'I don't really care' facial expressions to boot, before dabbling in some dark haired moments with a foray into brunette territory.
Staging a transformation before our very eyes, from random Dawson’s Creek gal to A-list actress, while stealing our style hearts along the way, the Academy Award nominated actress is refreshingly not quite so picky as to which pieces she defines as glamorous. In 2012 she grabbed headlines when she showed up at the BAFTAs in an H&M dress, later gushing: "I LOVE IT! I love affordable fashion – that is my thing." In an exclusive interview with Grazia Daily, the beauty went on to express her doubts about her own fashion prowess: I wish that was my gift, but it's not. I’m always very impressed by the people I see on the street [in London]". But Michelle has most certainly had more than her fair share of red carpet hits.
Glowing in a bleached blonde pixie cut, which she reportedly kept short because the late, great actor Heath Ledger - her former partner and the father of her daughter - liked it that way, (although she recently admitted to trying to grow it out) Williams has certainly come a long way since her Dawson's Creek days, swapping Jen Lindley's casual Creek girl style for a wardrobe of polished red carpet looks such as the red LV dress she wore to the Oscars in 2012. Her chameleon-like style giving way to styling wonders that range from tailored short-suits, all-the-way-up buttoned shirts, to what appears to be her fave style - the midi dress.
Her campaign for Louis Vuitton is set to hit stands August 2013 and is undoubtedly set to usher in a new era of glam for our latest girl crush.
