Blake Lively's Fashion Evolution
Since our Blake Lively crush began back in 2008, we've kept a devoted vigil for her every sartorial swish. Blake may have come into our lives thanks to her role as Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, but today the actress has totted up even more style accolades than Upper East Side's 'It' girl.
What really sealed the deal was when none other than Karl Lagerfeld photographed the blonde glamazon for his Chanel Mademoiselle bag campaign in March 2011. Cue Ms Lively being seen in little other than Chanel for her every red carpet turn. Not that we’re weren’t complaining, of course!
Next up came a collaboration with Gucci. Frida Giannini chose Blake to be the face of fragrance Gucci Premiere ‘because she is a girl of extraordinary beauty and she’s a girl who loves fashion. She has great taste in clothes.’ Well, there's no denying that. Blake has confessed to channelling Marilyn Monroe on the red carpet and with those knockout curves teamed with lashings of blonde locks and a perfect pout, it's not hard to see why.
But there's one man she does turn to - for footwear advice, at least. ‘When I’m going to an event, I’ll send Christian [Louboutin] a picture of my outfit and say, "What shoes do you think I should wear with this?"' she revealed. The pair became pals after their first meeting on a fashion shoot for US Vogue in Paris and how did the shoe guru cement their relationship? By naming a pair of his heels ‘The Blake’. We're not jealous at. all.
So with such top-notch designers on speed dial, Grazia put our bets on either Lagerfeld or Giannini being the frock-makers behind Blake's wedding dress when she walked up the aisle to her Green Lantern co-star Ryan Renyolds in the summer of 2012. But she surprised us all by turning to the whimiscal designs of Marchesa's Georgina Chapman who created a custom designed gown. What didn't surprise us is the 25-year-old bride was very hands-on with designing her wedding dress. Don't forget this little lady famously doesn't have a stylist and we'd say she's doing pretty well without one.
