She shocked the world by bravely speaking out about undergoing a double mastectomy and tonight, Angelina Jolie made her first public appearance since the news broke.
The A-list actress arrived on the black carpet for the World War Z premiere in London this evening to support fiance Brad Pitt who is the star of the new film. But despite all eyes being on Ange, she did her best to detract attention by opting to wear a low-key black gown. She wore barely any bling - except for that ginormous engagement ring, of course - and kept her brunette locks fuss-free by sweeping them to one side while her makeup was similarly simple.
The floor-sweeping draped dress comes courtesy of Saint Laurent and according to the French fashion house, Hedi Slimane made the dress especially for her. The gown features a high neck with draping across the torso and a sheer panel at the waist. This is the second time Angelina has chosen to wear Monsieur Slimane's designs post-surgery as she first stepped out in a Saint Laurent creation in early April, just after her double mastectomy. It's certainly upping her cool credentials.
Meanwhile, Brad went matchy-matchy in a black suit and they certainly looked like the ideal Hollywood couple. They posed for the paps looking more loved-up than ever, sharing a giggle and snuggling together before greeting fans. Just look at the adorableness:
In May, Angelina revealed in an honest article for the New York Times that she'd had a double mastectomy after discovering she carried the 'faulty' BCRA1 gene which gave her an 87% chance of developing breast cancer. Since the revelation, the actress has stayed out of the limelight but chose to reappear for her man's big night.
She was certainly met with oodles of support in Leicester Square this evening. Hoards of fans had brought gifts and waved banners that read 'You're our hero'. Angelina showed her appreciation by signing autographs, taking photos with the crowds and even comforting emotional fans. Heroic indeed.
