Does Rihanna's Alexander Wang Wardrobe Suggest She's Angling For A Balenciaga Role?

Last week we asked: what happens to Kristen Stewart now that her number one fashion fan, Nicolas Ghesquière, is no longer at Balenciaga? Today, we may have found our answer.

Kristen is the face of Balenciaga's Florabotanica fragrance, but hasn't worn the Parisian brand since that white cut-out bodice top and black tailored trouser combo for an(other) On The Road premiere on November 3, just two days before Nicolas' departure was announced. Might this mean she's looking to shake her status as ambassador of the brand? Because now tasty rumours are swirling that Rihanna maybe angling for K-Stew's role. How? By rocking one Alexander Wang outfit after another.

First Ri-Ri appeared on stage in Mexico during her 777 tour wearing cycling shorts and a leather baseball shirt, both from the Spring Summer 2013 catwalk, teamed with a pair of Balenciaga booties. Then she took to the stage on Sunday to perform 'Stay' for the X Factor final wearing a head-to-toe look from the very same collection. Yes fash fans, that fox-tastic crocodile-skin cut away top worn with a high-waisted skirt comes courtesy of Mr Wang.

Whether Rihanna IS heading for Wang at Balenciaga glory, it would certainly be a smart move from the songstress. It was only last week that Balenciaga confirmed Wang would be taking the helm as creative director, making him the world’s most-buzzed about designer. And wouldn't Ri-Ri make the perfect ambassador? Her street-chic style works brilliantly with Wang's edgy, sexy aesthetic and luxe sportswear plus she'd bring a whole new cult following to the brand.

One thing's for sure, Wang's appointment is likely to cause a major shift in style and image for Balenciaga and he may well be looking for his own muse. While model and actress Liberty Ross could be a contender - you may recall she made a fierce comeback on Wang's runway last September - THAT kerfuffle with K-Stew might hamper proceedings.

For now all we can do is watch and wait...
