Wowsers. We always knew Dita Von Teese was nothing short of a goddess but up-close and personal, she's even more spectacular that we could've imagined. The porcelain skin! The perfectly pouty lips! That wonderfully womanly figure!
'I’m wearing Jenny Packham who is one of my favourite designers here in the UK,' the burlesque star told us when she arrived on the red carpet at last night's British Fashion Awards, 'We've collaborated on a lot of stage costumes together so it’s always a treat to wear beaded, extravagant, opulent creations.' And Lord knows the designer's sweeping creations suit those curves brilliantly. 'It's important for me to have alone time before a red carpet event. I don't have a stylist or a glam squad so I like to listen to music and take my time.'
So how does Dita nail the retro beauty that's become her signature? 'I’m inspired a lot by women in the past, obviously, especially extravagant women and definitely women who are self-styled because I don’t have a hair and make-up team. I just do everything myself so it's hard to find modern beauty icons who do that now.'
As for the more modern woman inspiring her wardrobe, Dita confesses she's long been a fan of Tilda Swinton. 'She’s got such a great sense of self and knows herself and has a great style that doesn’t look affected or doesn’t look like it’s trying too hard to gain acceptance,' the raven haired beauty revealed.
Ooh, might this mean we'll see DVT in an androgynous Haider Ackermann suit for her next red carpet turn? Here's hoping.
