Packing For The Shows: What We're Wearing To New York Fashion Week
GALLERY >> My NYFW Wardrobe
How do you pack for Fashion Week when you know the city you are flying to is in a blizzard of snow? As New York experiences severe weather issues, how the hell am I supposed to be chic?! During London's snowy spell, I managed the brrr factor with fine cashmere layers and chic wellies - but that hardly makes the grade on the front row.
I usually rely on a uniform of simple skinnies, silk blouses and leather, but jeans and big jumpers - required to brave the snow- read too weekend for fashion week. Skirts and jumpers are much more glamorous so I've thrown out my rule book and packed several minis.
Take a look through the gallery above to see exactly what I'm packing for NYFW and stay tuned to my live updates direct from the Big Apple on [a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/Grazia_Live">@Grazia_Live.[/a]
The first skirt look combines a topshop boutique kilt with a fine Cos turtle neck. With a vest and spotty tights and this chic hooded coat from Sandro. The look is definitely cuter than my normal fare.
Bag: American Apparel
Boots: Karen Millen
Skirt: Topshop Boutique
This is my version of the tux. I adore this season's tuxedo look. I love trousers and jeans so this look is a no brainer. I've gone for black super skinnies - with a hint of grey - from AG. My jacket is from Elin kling's collection for guess - I moved the concealed fastenings to make it really nip in at the waist. Below is a gorgeous classic blouse from Moschino- not quite a pussy bow as seen at Saint Laurent for Spring 2013, but it has that vibe.
Jacket: Elin Kling for Guess by Mariciano
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik
Bag: Sophie Hulme
Belt: Topshop Unique
Another leather mini - this time a Flippy number from Zara. I'm teaming this with an oversized men's jumper to stay snug and will wear with woollen Falke tights. I always look to men's knitwear - you can create a really strong masculine silhouette which works well with skirts.
Roll neck: Men's Benetton
More monochrome! Here's my next outfit with another dash of black leather.
Skirt and boots: Kooples
Back to jeans with this party look. I'm not a print or colour fan, but this blouse really speaks to me. Even though it's crazy bold, there is something in the perfect cut which stops it screaming too loud. These jbrand gingers are a great choice for those of us who are vertically challenged. The ankle cut is ultra flattering and the side pockets add shape to a boyish figure.
Bespoke necklace by In God We Trust
I love to pick jewellery up in New York - there are so many great boutiques. I got this necklace from in God We Trust in Soho last season.
My beauty essentials always include a Diptyque candle, Dr Hauschka face cream, a proper face mask and of course some Chanel perfume!
My FROW kit includes feline Audrey sunnies, my kindle fire- sometimes there is a lot of waiting around- and a mini notebook- I still love to write notes at a show and not just rely on my iPhone.
I'll be taking my bulging ring collection including beauties from Miranda Vinader, Katie Rowland, Zoe and Morgan and Dominic Jones. My bling is all about layering.
My kooples buckled boots are so kick ass I wish I'd bought more of them.
Sophie Hulme bag
This Sophie Hulme pouchette is the perfect size for tickets and notepad.
Hunter boots just in case the snow is impenetrable
Ok, I'm packing the hunters. Just in case!
One chic Grazia notebook
Someone wants to come in my suitcase...
My puppy Betty clearly wants a trip to NY.
