It was elbows at the ready when we ventured backstage at the Victoria Beckham show in New York this morning. The Beckham brood was causing hysteria on the front row - hello David, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz AND Harper! - while the lady of the hour was backstage talking a hoard of journalists through her Autumn Winter 2014 collection. We managed to grab five with VB to talk about the luxe grunge pieces as well as her first London store and the possibility of moving to Miami...
'Androgyny mixed with femininity is exactly what I want to wear'
The ruffle over the trousers was completely new this season and I love the colour print combined with the pleated skirt. It's exactly what I want to wear right now. I like that mix of androgyny and femininity, like the long feminine skirts with the more masculine trouser underneath. I think that looks really, really cool. Also tunic dressing is something that I really relate to and I think the girls look really feminine and sexy.
'This feels like a very luxurious collection'
We really focused on eveningwear and there is a lot more design detail this season. I love the gold chain detailing and the wool makes the dresses look so luxurious and powerful in a very feminine way. But then we're turning it on its head by pairing it with a cashmere tank. It still feels modern and it still has edge, but it's definitely elegant.

'There's an element of surprise with every piece'
The long lean silhouettes of the outwear are beautifully structured, but then you turn around and see the beautiful pleats. There’s an element of surprise with every single piece.
'Each season, I can push my fashion a little more'
For my first season, I put my signature dresses on the catwalk and there are a lot of them in the selling campaign. They're great dresses and they do have the fashion message in them, but I think each season the more people understand me and my brand, the more I can push it a little bit. And I enjoy doing that because I’ve got lots of ideas that I want to try.
'I often wear flats'
I’ve just got a pair of velvet slippers that I love.
'We're going to have a party when my London store opens'
It’s the first time I have such a strong graphic so I'm thinking, "how is this going to look hanging in my store?". Although I am opening a store in London, I still really want to focus on the US. The collection does very well here.
'I still get that "wow" moment when I see anyone wearing my dresses'
Every women that has chosen to wear one of my designs is a compliment.

'My family is definitely not moving'
Will we move to the US? Never say never, but just because my husband has a club in Miami, doesn’t mean we're going to live in Miami. We are based in London - that’s where our home is and that’s where our children go to school so we are definitely not moving. But it's great to be able to travel because I get so inspired. I consider all of these opportunities as adventures.
