Who knew K-Stew was looking to Victoria Beckham for styling tips? If the idea doesn’t seem blatantly obvious on a first glance at this most recent outfit of the Twilight star, then let us point it out. We’re talking in reference to Kristen’s flat shoes, worn with tartan kecks from Juicy Couture, a sloppy-cool white t-shirt and customary cheeky smirk for an appearance at L.A.’s Variety Awards Studio. A bit punk, a lot laid-back.
Kristen and Victoria both look holier than now in their monk strap flats
This ensemble may not scream Victoria Beckham from its very fibres, but look at the shoes again. They are monk strap flats. Double straps to be precise. As in the kind of flats VB wore to stroll around Los Angeles with her boys . In one instant, Posh smashed the very platform’d mould we know her for. The VB monk straps in question were from her Spring Summer 2013 collection and designed by the master of elegant footwear, and the man who won the Outstanding Achievement Awards at the BFAs this week, Manolo Blahnik. If anyone can could make flats divine enough to persuade a skyscraper fanatic into something different, it’s Manolo.
We reported on the quiet but ever-growing trend for this mannish shoe in Grazia magazine a few weeks ago and since then, despite being in stores from Office to Opening Ceremony, no other A-lister has stepped forth in the flat-du-jour – until K-Stew. Considering her penchant for a good Converse or Vans trainer, we reckon this is a clever compromise between her love for a scruffy ol' sneaker and the necessary red carpet heels. Kristen’s are from Cole Haan and the style name is ‘Breslyn’ should you fancy getting a pair for yourself – they are the new loafers, after all.
