Oscar night is one of the most exciting nights of the year for the fashion team at Grazia HQ. We stay up all night analysing every red-carpet dress, shoe, bag and jewel that the A-list actresses are wearing, and waiting for the designers to confirm our speculations on who is wearing which brand. So we were sent into a spin when Valentino announced that Anne Hathaway was planning to wear Valentino Haute Couture to the Academy awards, but on the night showed up wearing Prada.
It transpired that the actress had to change her outfit at the last minute, as her Valentino dress was too similar to Amanda Seyfried’s Alexander McQueen dress, and as they would both be walking the red-carpet together as they were co-starring in Les Miserables, that would be quite the disaster. So what did this mysterious Valentino dress look like, this one that got away?

After seeing Amanda’s dress, we’ve deduced that the almost famous dress must be in fact, the dress that the queen bee of Cannes, film festival juror Nicole Kidman wore to the Nebraska Premiere at The Palais des Festivals last night! The sheer silk embroidered dress with crystal embellishment was as elegant as they come, especially matched with a side swept up-do and seriously luxe earrings. The frock is so spectacular that we’re ecstatic it finally got an glossy outing, especially one as starry as a Nicole Kidman premiere in Cannes.
