Don't you just LOVE Shazam? The app is the niftiest thing ever when you're tapping along to a tune and desperate to know what it is. With one click, the track is identified and with another, you can download it. Wouldn't it be amaaazing if you could do the same for fashion? Scanning a coveted outfit and buying it instantly? Well, it sounds like our dream isn't far off...
Today The Guardian reports that the brains behind Shazam is developing a tool that allows us to order a dress or pair of shoes worn by an on-screen star. Do you like Kate Middleton's latest frock? Or Alexa Chung's hipster gear? Then buy it with this handy app! It promises to give you details on the pieces and where you can buy them.
'We have the ability to identify the product in a TV show so that when somebody Shazams it, they could find out where a presenter's dress is from in one click,' explained CEO Andrew Fisher, who joined the UK startup in 2005 and is credited with making it a global brand. 'We are focused on creating a new category which we call media engagement. We make it easier for consumers to engage with a brand or a piece of content they are interested in, without having to go through search engines, then mining the results.'
