Vintage Met Ball: The Best Moments EVER Starring Victoria Beckham, Beyonce & More

The Met Ball – fashion's annual shindig which has been described as ‘the night of nights’ – has been going since 1948, the same year that the Costume Institute was founded. Becoming more and more glamorous every single year, it’s Planet Fashion’s hottest ticket.

The Met provides A-Listers with the chance to really experiment with their style offering carte blanche for sartorial risk-taking. Whereas the regular red carpet circuit is regimented and highly pressured – one foul move and you may find yourself at the bottom of the best dressed list and knocked of casting director’s lists – the Met is about fashion liberty and showmanship.

It has therefore brought us some of the most memorable fashion moments of all time. From Katy Perry’s light-up dress to Madonna’s bunny ears, a sense of fashion fun and frivolity is key. There are also several Met Ball regulars who always dazzle on the Met’s red carpet. Foremost is Marc Jacobs who was delighted us with a see-thru lace dress, a kilt and by bringing Lil Kim to the Met back in 2005. Victoria Beckham, the queen of fashion transformation has also had a few cracks at the Met Ball whip – coming with Dolce & Gabbana in 2003, as a sexy senorita in 2006 and as an ice maiden in 2008. Karolina Kurkova is another Met Ball moment winner – from her Viktor & Rolf ‘I Love You’ gown to her turban look last year, she never misses the chance to get the flashbulbs blinking.

With more iconic moments than you can shake a stick at, The Met Ball truly is the fashion Oscars. So click through our gallery below to see the best of the best Met Ball fashwan. Enjoy!
