Back in London Fashion Week DJ Harley Viera Newton was in town to hang out at the front row of London Fashion Week at Henry Holland, Mulberry, Burberry… oh, and make a guest appearance at House of Grazia – our pop up event with Matches Fashion to open up the shows to the public.
We spent a day at London Fashion Week with Harley, finding out about her front row dos and don'ts and shooting her on the streets of London for a feature in this week's issue. Here is a teaser of the interview with the modern DJ/ model muse in this week's Grazia.
So, Harley, do you have a fashion formula for the front row?
I just stick to my daily formula of vintage dress or skirt + tights + boots. Everything is really just a play on that idea, even if it’s quite different. I’ve dressed that way for ages now. Having said that, fashion week does give me the chance to try things that I wouldn’t have before. You can borrow a mad piece from a designer that isn’t exactly your average, everyday closet item.
Who are your favourite designers?
I like everything from Miu Miu. Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dresses are a party essential, they’re so flattering. I love Valentino dresses, too. I go to Christopher Kane for a fun piece. I love Dior’s pointy court shoes – I have them in black and white, so they’ve become a staple for me.
How do you pack for this marathon?
I put everything into my hand luggage! Really, I do! It expands… and I’ve lost so many great things before that I just can’t risk it any more.
Harley swung by House of Grazia to talk about how she chooses what to wear for the glare of the front row. Short answer: by sticking to a uniform. ‘I don’t particularly follow trends, but I am loyal to certain designers. Miu Miu, Carven and Dolce & Gabbana for the idea dress… quite classic I suppose. I love the idea of being girly and ladylike,’ she told us. ‘I love florals, I love pastels, I love girly dresses and skirts. My favourite pieces that I return to again and again are always leopard print and polka dots. I love ‘em!’
