No wonder Victoria Beckham was flashing a huge grin yesterday - the designer has just launched her Autumn Winter 2013 collection for VVB online. We saw Lady Becks looking like the cat who'd got the cream as she posed in front of the Hollywood sign in another LOL-tastic Twitter snap, knowing that today, her lower price line would be hitting her ecommerce website, www.victoriabeckham.com. And GO!
Naturally, we're itching to shop the new drop - not only is the collection a(nother) really beautiful collection, but there's been a shift in the Victoria, Victoria Beckham girl this season. She is no longer overtly feminine but has a new androgynous feel; she’s put together yet stripped back - see the easy to wear dresses as well as masculine tailoring with a utilitarian mood. There's also a splash of sequins and laser cut overlays to add that playful tone we've come to expect.
‘I feel like the Victoria, Victoria Beckham girl this season is an engaged intellectual with a sense of humour,' says Victoria. 'She can wear anything with aplomb yet she chooses the simplicity of a dress. She marches rather than walks, she drinks espresso, and she devours books and art and film. And she is subversively sexy without trying. I’d like to meet her…’
Or perhaps she has become her? The vibe certainly fits with Victoria's latest leanings towards nonchalant chic. Posh Spice is long, long gone - so far gone, in fact, we can barely remember how she used to dress. Gone are her favourite form-fitting dresses of yore, and into VB's new closet are the very same ideas seen in her latest collections: supersize shapes such as loose-fit blouses, full trousers, along with her own-design mannish sleeveless-coats. This (literally) big switch-up has allowed the designer to completely reinvent her look and last week, landed her on Grazia's Summer Best Dressed List.
