No Sale! Victoria Beckham's Wedding Tiara Fails To Sell At Auction

10 December 2013 by

UPDATE: You'll remember our excitement last month when news landed that us mere mortals can get our mitts on Victoria Beckham's wedding tiara. Slim Barrett, the designer of the crownlike piece, put it up for sale at Bonhams in London, with the bidding beginning on Thursday. The tiara was expected to fetch waaaay above the £18,000-£25,000 estimated price but - GASP! - it was a no sale. Although the highest bid was an impressive £14,000, according to WWD, it failed to meet its reserve price. The glitzy tiara now returns to Barrett, who was commissioned by Lady Becks – then Victoria Adams – for her wedding day. 'It didn't find a home today, I'm afraid, and lives to fight another day,' said auctioneer Matthew Girling, chief executive of Bonhams UK and Europe. 'You missed a golden opportunity here in the room and on the phones and online, is all I can say.' Where are those Beckham fanatics when you need them?

Victoria Beckham's Wedding Tiara Now On Show

30 November 2013: Victoria Beckham's Wedding Tiara Goes On Sale

Calling all 'Wannabe' Spice Girls: the poshest tiara in showbiz is up for grabs! Yes ladies, Victoria Beckham's fit-for-a-princess diamond crown will go on sale on 5th December - just in time for Christmas! East of Paris is the (very elegantly named) tiara that Victoria Adams wore when she tied the knot with David 'Goldenballs' Beckham 14 years ago and this legendary piece of history will be up for grabs at Bonhams on New Bond Street. So if your boyfriend has a spare £18,000-£25,000 (estimated value - chances are it will go for A LOT more) lying around, get this on your wish list. After all, no girl's Christmas is complete without a tiara or two.

The coronet, which was designed for VB's royal-themed wedding, will join the other Posh'n'Becks marriage memorabilia that has gone on sale this year. In case you missed it, the couple recently announced the charity auction of their thrones (remember the thrones!) after downsizing their UK dwelling from Beckingham Palace to a more humble London mansion. The thrones clearly didn't suit the decor in their new pad.

Made by acclaimed jewellery designer Slim Barrett, the sparkly headpiece is crafted from 18-carat latticed yellow gold, set with large brilliant-cut diamonds and suspended diamond drops. Barrett is the master mind behind some of the glitziest couture creations of the past thirty years, designing jewellery for everyone from Princess Diana to Gaga to Beyoncé to Mick Jagger. Rock royalty, pop royalty, real royalty, you name it - he's decorated them. The designer has also collaborated with Chanel, Versace and John Galliano. More recently Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Cara Delevingne have been spotted in Barrett’s gorgeous designs - both on and off the catwalk.

The couple said 'I do' way back in 1999 at a £500,000 wedding at Ireland's Luttrellstown Castle. Posh wore Vera Wang, natch, 2 became 1 and one of the world's most powerful power couples was born. The rest, as they say, is history.
