Gina Gershon as Donatella Versace
This Saturday the Lifetime fashion flick House of Versace hits the silver screen in the US, with Gina Gershon rocking a peroxide blonde wig to play the flamboyant Donatella Versace. The Italian fashion icon has no problem with imitation, as she loved it when Lady Gaga did a Donatella and raided the Versace archives, put on a blonde poker straight wig and rocked a ruby red pout.
Lady Versace even found Maya Rudolph's parody on Saturday Night Live 'hilarious,' although she did say that the accessories were wrong as 'they’re all too fake, I only wear real.' Obvs. But Donatella is not impressed with her latest mini me as the brand commented: 'Versace has neither authorized nor had any involvement whatsoever in the forthcoming TV movie about Mrs. Versace.' She didn't give hand over the key to the Versace archives then.

The film is inspired by the book 'House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder and Survival' by Deborah Ball, which centres around the murder of her brother Gianni Versace and covers Donatella's struggle with a cocaine addiction. You won't find this paperback on the Versace bookshelf.
While promoting the film, Gershon said the plot is bang on as she told the New York Post: 'She goes through an evolution — she physically changes, as we all know, through the years and it was important to be as truthful about that as possible.' But the brand doesn't agree as a spokesperson commented: 'Since Versace did not authorize the book on which it is based, the movie should only be seen as a work of fiction.' No word yet on what Donatella thinks about Gina's Versace wig.
