The Vanity Fair Hollywood issue is like an Oscars year book. So who is in the class of 2014? On this year's cover Lupita Nygon'o stands in the centre in a statuesque gold gown, while Julia Roberts' smile, Jared Leto's hombre and George Clooney's smise all feature. In this Annie Leibovitz cover six of the 12 actors are black, which is a first for Vanity Fair as the Hollywood issue is often criticised for being too 'white.' The 2010 Hollywood cover featured 12 white women, including Kristen Stewart, Amanda Seyfried and Emma Stone.
Let us introduce you to the 12 actors who made the cut this year...
1. Chiwetel Ejiofor
Chiwetel has come a long way since he married Keira Knightley in a purple suit in Love Actually. He is the bookies favourite to pick up the Best Actor gong at this year's Oscars for playing Solomon Northup in 12 Years A Slave.
2. Julia Roberts
Julia hardly needs an introduction. Her smile is just as infectious on the Vanity Fair cover as when she sang Kiss in the bath in Pretty Woman.
3. Idris Elba
This is Idris Elba's year as he has been praised for his performance in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. By night he goes by the name DJ Big Driis and he once made Kate Middleton blush. He's that dreamy.
4. George Clooney
This confirms our theory that every photoshoot is improved by a bit of the Cloones. The excuse reason to have him back for another year is his role in Gravity.
5. Michael B. Jordan
Michael is best known for playing Wallace in The Wire, but has also been in All My Children (we only really know about this show thanks to Friends), Friday Night Lights and House. Recently he has played the lead in Fruitvale Station - but it's not all high brow as he is in the upcoming Zac Efron rom com That Awkward Moment.
6. Jared Leto
Jared started his Hollywood journey as Jordan Catalano in My So-Called Life, and has Girl Interupted, American Psycho and Dallas Buyers Club listed on his IMBD page. Thanks to the hombre he is the best tressed of his class.
7. Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong'o is this year's golden girl, so naturally she's placed in the middle of the gang in a golden frock. This year she has gone from a relative unknown to an Oscar nominee for her performance in 12 Years A Slave, soaring to the top of the best dressed lists. Seriously, what did we do last awards season without Lupita?
8. Naomie Harris
We are pretty chuffed that the Brits are getting so much air time. Naomie played Winnie in Mandela: The Long Walk To Freedom - she was also a Bond girl, was a screenwriter on EastEnders and studied political science at Cambridge.
9. Brie Larson
Brie started studying drama when she was SIX - she is the youngest student ever to attend the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Brie has gone from tween flicks 13 Going On 30 and Raising Dad, to an acclaimed performance in Short Term 12.
12. Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick is a screenwriter who graduated from Howard University and the British American Dramatic Academy at Oxford. He caught the attention of Hollywood when he played baseball star Jackie Robinson in 42.
11. Margot Robbie
If you've seen The Wolf of Wall Street you will already have an uncontrollable girl crush on Margot. It is silly how hot this girl is - plus she is only TWENTY THREE making her younger than Taylor Swift. Like Chris Hemsworth this Aussie went from Ramsay Street to Hollywood, as she spent three years on Neighbours.
12. Lea Seydoux
Lea Seydoux has that French girl thing where she makes you hate your parents for not raising you in Paris. The girl is cool. She won the Palm D’Or Award for Blue Is The Warmest Colour, but is also winning in the fashion stakes thanks to her Miu Miu campaign and upcoming role in Saint Laurent. No one can pull off a leather jacket quite like her.
